Next day in Education
Tomorrow’s learning is about constant improvement and willingness to move on and change whatever you can. As the education was deeply wounded by the economic crisis, over time weaknesses, inflexibilities and problems of our country’s education system became apparent, while new difficulties arose strongly and suddenly. The immediate need for inspiration and adoption of change and new educational proposals, for educators, learners and institutes, through the use of Information & Communication Technologies (ICTs), did not allow us to indulge in a process that simply concerned inertia.
Arnos Online Education and its Founder and CEO Mr. Ioannis Krokos were deeply concerned regarding the financial predicament and its reflection in education. Teaching online can differ a lot from face-to-face teaching, and it is useful to consider the role of the e-tutor in an online, e-learning context. The demands of online learning may also affect the way in which both teachers, learners, schools or colleges perceive the teaching and learning process, and the roles and identities of the participants within it.
So, Arnos Online Education Teachers’ Department and its Administration Faculty, came in touch with exceptional companies and educational institutes, during the period of research, in order to reverse the current situation and offer economic but full efficient learning solutions to learners, educators, and businesses. So, ARNOS came in touch with Cypher Learning Company and its NEO LMS.
What is NEO LMS platform?
NEO LMS is an award-winning learning management platform that comes with a mobile ready interface, enabling students and teachers to access the system whether they are working with their desktops or running around with the mobile devices. The platform is cloud-based, which means there is no need for users to install software or purchase additional hardware, saving them money and time in the process. Creating beautiful and engaging classes is also a walk in the part with NEO LMS content authoring tools. Powerful, feature-packed grade book also means teachers can easily assess student performance and progress.
As e result, with the aid of NEO LMS’ authoring and collaboration options, ARNOS formed its fundamental axes straight to the development of the personalized e-tutor’s role. Through e-tutors’ role moderation, ARNOS formed a superb-structured curriculum, which embraces the assets of the Internet into the teaching learning process. Everyone who participates in the teaching process is important, thus the teacher, through NEO tools and options, has at his disposal modern educational tools to set the “scene”, in order to be able to apply the Socratic Method in the classroom.
As a result, the structure of our curriculum and video courses as well is per lesson and includes provoke-thinking questions for the corresponding teaching subject, theory, methodology and embedded questions and activities while watching every video. Video literacy is the first level of a lesson, to which we rely on, in order to develop blended learning and apply methods like flipping classroom. Our educational practices in live classes are developed with discussion among learners and teachers. Having taken the stimulation from video literacy, each learner has the opportunity to participate in webinars enhanced with forum discussions, supportive technological teaching tools and flipped virtual classrooms; all these under a mentor’s guide. So all the attendees can discuss the limits of video literacy and contribute their experiences in their live classroom reality.
The scope is to compare the use of video-literacy in an international extent and at various educational levels. Arnos created the complete e-learning solution that bridges the NEO Learning Management System with the educational content.
Please do not forget, that any of us either educator or learner, can always become better and as the famous poet William Butler Yeates said: “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire“.
Educational components of Arnos
As discussed earlier, we consider online tutoring and leadership as a crucial factor in the success of computer-mediated collaborative learning activities. CPD, is our main focus, as it can result in e-tutors’ improvement from a single workshop to a semester-long academic course, to services offered by a medley of different professional development providers and varying widely with respect to the philosophy, content, and format of the learning experiences.
Some examples of ARNOS’ approaches to professional development include:
· Coaching – to enhance a person’s competencies in a specific skill area by providing a process of observation, reflection, and action.
· Communities of Practice – to improve professional practice by engaging in shared inquiry and learning with people who have a common goal.
· Lesson Study – to solve practical dilemmas related to intervention or instruction through participation with other professionals in systematically examining the practice.
· Mentoring – to promote an individual’s awareness and refinement of his or her own professional development by providing and recommending structured opportunities for reflection and observation.
In almost all educational fields, methods and tools of e-learning have become widespread in all European countries in the last two decades. “Learn online before, during, and after“: this is the coming action of ARNOS in the frame of training continuously all tutors with online education industry’s best overall learning experience and provide them with an international certification. Our coming project defines a comprehensive quality standard for the further education of teachers and trainers to becoming “e-tutors” and introduces a certification procedure which supports the validation and recognition of e-learning qualifications in a transparent way at international level.
